The victim, said to be with his supervisor identified as Emeka and two other workers and the driver, was shot dead on a site where they were working on an electric power line.

Ufuhe’s brother, Monday told SaharaReporters he heard about the tragic death of his brother last Friday.

He said the gunmen waited in ambush for the five of them who were in a Hilux bus and started shooting at them.

His brother died instantly while Emeka who sustained gunshot injuries, is receiving treatment in an undisclosed hospital, according to him.

Monday noted that the new Hilux van they drove must have caught the attention of the assailants who carried out the attack. He also said the vehicle was riddled with bullet holes.

“It happened at Ilaro Ishaga in Abeokuta. They travelled, they were working. The news got to me four days ago. The news broke out from there to me. They went to work in that place. They didn’t use the vehicle they used to use. Their supervisor got them a Hilux, they are working on the powerline, the high tension kind of powerline.

“They used a costly Hilux and were going on the site to get their equipment. These killers were already monitoring them because of the Hilux they took. They were five in number. The driver, the supervisor my brother, and two other guys. He was the only one killed. The bullet hit him in the neck. The supervisor, Emeka was shot in the leg, but I learnt he is still in the hospital receiving treatment,” Mr Monday said.

When asked about the steps taken by the company and the family, Monday said the company his brother worked with promised to bring his dead body to Delta, the deceased's home state.

“The company officials my brother was working with came to our place two days ago and we demanded to see our brother. They’ve not come back to Delta. The incident happened on the morning of 18th August. I was told the herdsmen shot the tyres and then fired gunshots at them. The Hilux was riddled with bullet holes,” Monday added.

The Ogun Police Command’s spokesperson, Abimbola Oyeyemi when contacted promised to get back to SaharaReporters as he was in a meeting.
