Cleric Says Corruption, Killings, Others In Nigeria Are To Blame For Low Rainfall

The Chief Imam of Dutse Central Mosque in Jigawa State, Abubakar Sani Birnin Kudu has identified a high level of corruption, killing of innocent people, and other social vices within the Nigerian society as the major cause of low rainfall in the state.

This, he mentioned, while leading thousands of Dutse residents to observe a two raka'a prayer at the Dutse Eid ground to seek divine intervention over the low rainfall recorded in the state.

The low rainfall has become a serious threat to different farming activities in the state hence the residents went spiritual.

Abubakar said only true repentance to Allah would provide a better solution to the problem, adding that people should mend their ways and run back to God.

It was learnt that the inadequate rainfall, had also affected the usual harvest period as rice farmers resorted to digging well searchingly to provide water for their crops.

The Emir of Dutse, Dr. Nuhu Muhammad Sanusi, who was present at the prayer ground said, “This is not new; whenever there is a possible threat of drought, we are enjoined by Allah SWT through His Prophet Muhammad (S.A.W) to go back to Him, and seek His guidance and forgiveness and this is what we have done today. We are seeking Allah’s mercy and guidance and we hope this prayer will be answered by Allah SWT and will grant us not only rain, but bless our crops and animals."
